Following the success of the “OPCI” guide released in September 2007, CACEIS publishes a new reference guide dedicated to the cross-border distribution of UCITS.
A TOPIC WITHIN THE CORE OF THE STRATEGY OF ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPANIES
The use of UCITS by asset management companies eager to distribute their funds outside of their local jurisdiction has increased exponentially since the introduction of the UCITS III directive in 2002, insomuch that UCITS have become a reference for savings products worldwide.
Today, the cross-border distribution of UCITS is at the core of the strategy of many European asset management companies for which new market opportunities with Eastern Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East have become additional effective drivers of their growth. In order to reach set goals however, management companies have to face many administrative, regulatory, tax and operational constraints (notably an increasingly complex distribution network management and holdings follow-up due to a growing open architecture).
Based on its experience with its locations in Luxembourg and Ireland, the jurisdictions of which represent 90% of the total amount of cross-border distribution, CACEIS has developed an expertise and deep understanding of this constantly evolving environment. As a result, CACEIS’ teams are always ready to study new opportunities with the clients for the international distribution of funds. The several different offered services are flexible and provide adapted solutions to the various issues described within the publication.
COMPENDIUM FOR THE CROSS-BORDER FUND DISTRIBUTION
CACEIS shares this experience, expertise and know-how acquired over the years through the support provided to its many clients. Readers of this guide will find a detailed presentation of the current state of the market, the main models and players in the fund distribution activity, the constraints of cross-border fund distribution, the different initiatives that have been taken in order to reduce those constraints as well as references to the legal texts regulating the fund distribution activity for the main distribution countries. Finally, this publication also presents product sheets for CACEIS’ Prime TA® fund distribution support offer.
CACEIS further develops this service offer in order to support its clients, notably in Asia, via the opening of its new subsidiary CACEIS Hong Kong Ltd. Business will begin in early 2009 with a local European fund distribution support offer for the Asia-Pacific region (order capture, reports, call centre, etc.).
This document is meant as a compendium for cross-border fund distribution and was co-written by the Paris and Luxembourg Product Marketing teams. Already released in English in December 2008, this publication will also be available in French in early 2009 @
